Food Pantry

The St. Damian Food Pantry(SDFP) collects, sorts and delivers food to the needy of Oak Forest on a monthly basis. Currently, over 60 clients receive food from the SDFP every month on the third Saturday. Each Food Pantry client receives 2 full bags of groceries including meat and bread. Deliveries are made on the third Saturday of every month.

The SDFP is financed 100% by donations from Oak Forest churches, schools, businesses and parishioners. Community members can still donate non-perishable items at any time to the Food Pantry. There is a collection bin located in the back of the church Narthex.

The SDFP serves Oak Forest residents who are in need of food regardless of religious denomination.

Residents can call the hotline at 708-802-0484 for assistance.  Leave a message.

Volunteers

Volunteers are always needed to pack and deliver groceries the morning of the distribution. In order to insure we have enough volunteers, each month an online Sign Up link is released. Please check the St. Damian Facebook page or the bulletin for more information and the current Sign Up link.

The National Association of Letter Carriers’ Food Drive takes place every May. Our Food Pantry receives all the food collected from this Food Drive. In May of 2017, the SDFP received a record-breaking 21,500 pounds of food. For May of 2020 and 2021, the food drive was postponed. This requires MANY volunteers to help collect and sort through - any amount of time is appreciated!!

Please contact Janice Van Kuiken, Food Pantry Coordinator, through our Pastoral Office at 687.1370 or email at janicevankuiken@gmail.com with any questions.

Please help - however you can- thank you !
