The purpose of the St.Damian Food Pantry (SDFP) is to feed the hungry of Oak Forest while at the same time ministering to the spiritual needs of the people it serves.
The SDFP collects, sorts and delivers food to the needy of Oak Forest on a monthly basis. Currently, over 100 clients receive food from the SDFP every month. Each Food Pantry client receives 3 full bags of groceries including meat and bread. Deliveries are made on the third Saturday of every month. The SDFP is financed 100% by donations from Oak Forest churches, schools, businesses and parishioners.
The SDFP services Oak Forest residents who are in need of food regardless of religious denomination. Residents can call the hotline at 708-802-0484 for assistance.
Volunteers are always needed. Please come and join us! You can help by showing up at 7:30 am on the third Saturday of the month. You can find us by looking for a large red and white food pantry sign by the school doors just east of the church doors at St. Damian Parish. During the first hour, hundreds of bags of groceries are packed. By 8:30 am volunteers begin delivering the sets of food to clients throughout the Oak Forest community.
Every May, the SDFP receives all food collected from the National Association of Letter Carriers’ Food Drive. May of 2017, the SDFP received a record breaking 21,500 pounds of food.
Please contact Bill and Marge Conn, Food Pantry Coordinators, at 708-687-5162 or email them at email@example.com with any questions regarding the SDFP.
