Eucharistic Ministers are men and women trained and certified by the Archdiocese of Chicago as Extra Ordinary Ministers who distribute the Body of Christ or the Precious Blood of Christ during Mass. Eucharistic Ministers have a firm belief in the true presence of Christ in the elements of Bread and Wine. It is this conviction that leads to their reverent and pious distribution of Holy Communion to those who have gathered at Mass and process forward to the Altar to receive the Body and Blood of Christ.
Eucharistic Minister must have received the Sacrament of Confirmation prior to being certified in the Chicago Archdiocese. Certification lasts for a period of three years and requires on going formation. If you are interested in becoming a EM or have not been scheduled in recent years and would like to start again, then please contact Frieda Bertello to learn more about the simple Certification process.
