There are a lot of assumptions about growing older – some are “spot on” and some are borne out of “old wives tales”and a lack of understanding and/or experience. After all, how can a teenager relate to someone who is 65 or 75, etc? Impossible. Yet, the reverse is true. Some oldster was once a teenager and probably has a lot of stories to tell.
St. Damian is a busy, active parish with over 50 organizations and ministries. There are numerous opportunities for individuals and families to join. We are now offering a new program: Senior Chat for people over 65 years old.
What’s Senior Chat? It’s not a coffee klatch. It’s not a gripe session. It’s not a bunch of old foaggies getting together to talk sports. It’s not “the clinic’s in session” talking about aches and pains. It’s not a bash session of “this generation”.
It’s about people over 65 years old talking about issues of aging. It’s about smart people getting together to share their views of life and living in today’s culture. It’s about shared collective wisdom.
Sooooo, if you’re interested, come to the Pastoral Center the second Friday of the month at 10am. We’ll serve “coffee and” and promise a lot of good conversation.
